Some things I think about.
Q. Why does every major empire fall into oblivion?
Seems like there is no breaking the cycle of a rapid rise of a new empire and then an inevitable downfall, whether it is the Roman empire, or the American hegemony, or the Maurya empire. Is there something that can be fundamentally done to arrest this seemingly inescapable demise of prosperous ’empires’. I use empires here in a loose sense, not in their traditional sense of an extensive group of states or countries ruled over by a single monarch, an oligarchy, or a sovereign state.
Q. Is there a solution to the Fermi paradox? Can we accelerate our progress to answer this question?
Utterly fascinated with the Fermi paradox. Why can we see absolutely no evidence of any alien intelligent life while intuitively we should be seeing at least a few, given the age of the universe and the speed with which someone could have built large megastructures or sent exploratory spacecraft (umuamua anyone?)? Is life unique on earth? Is humanity the only cradle of consciousness? Or is the universe just so big and young still that our “intuition” that we should be seeing some proof is fundamentally flawed?
Q. Can physics be ultimately unified with the weirdness of quantum theory being merged with the beauty of Einstein’s relativity?
Q. How can humanity become a Type II civilization in the 21st century? (and more selfishly how can I enable and play a part in accelerating that progress?)
Q. Is time just how humanity or consciousness perceives the universe whereas it isn’t as simple as just flowing in one direction? Is everything happening everywhere all at once and is it our consciousness’ or our matter’s interaction with the space-time continuum that makes it seems like things happen sequentially?
Q. What is infinity really? Do we actually comprehend it or is ours just a notional understanding of it?
Q. Do the languages we use actually limit what we can think and comprehend? Does a language shape, limit, or expand our understanding of the universe?
Q. Is our universe actually a simulation? How can we know? Can we ever know?
